Good Bye 2009 "Me".....Hello 2010 "Me".....

As I flew back to Seoul from my European adventure this past Christmas, I took the time to jot down a few short term goals in my notebook. I realized that once I returned to Seoul, I had roughly 10 weeks left before my big move to Seattle. I wanted to think about what I had left to do, see, and accomplish before the big move.

I. My Body: In an attempt to be more active, lean, and happy with my "outer" self, I have decided to cook a lot more. I'm saying "no" to fried foods, red meat, soda, and take out, while saying hello to "fish, chicken, and organic vegetables." Friday's are now, "walk to work days" and I've vowed to walk home twice a week in place of taking a cab or the bus. This week I started my long Sunday morning walk through Olympic Park. Jenn and I take turns twice a week cooking healthy dinners together. I hope that by the end of March I can be 15 lbs. lighter.

II. Money and Saving for the Future: With my move to Seattle happening in about 7 weeks, I really needed to sit down and think about what moving from Seoul to Seattle was going to entail. The past 2.5 years I have lived rent free in my studio apartment in Seoul, and relied on public transportation to get me from point A to B. Seattle is going to be a new world for me filled with new financial responsibilities that I am not use to: rent, car insurance, car payments, cell phone bills, etc. In order to bulk my savings account up just a bit more, I have set a goal of putting $1500 dollars into savings from January 10th-March 10th. So far I have contributed $700, so I am almost half way there!

III. Personal Goals that are Good for the Soul: I want to make a list of the 5 things that I still have to see/do in Korea before I go. After I make this list I want to check each off one by one. I want to make a new friendship that will last a lifetime, and reconnect with one friend from my past. I want to pack my lunch ten days out of the month, and eat out only once a week for dinner. My plan is to read 3 new books a month, read the economist weekly, and blog at least twice a week. Improve my relationship with others, build my self confidence, and practice optimism are also top on my list.

great goals...some that i also want to set for myself as i'm paving out my new life here (in my case i want to lose the weight i've gained since coming back!). mmmm, seattle. i've always wanted to go, it's on my list of top places to visit. i hear you on the financial responsibilities...i still can't believe how all of that stuff adds up! i miss my simple life, but not enough to go back!
