In lieu of the recent election, this weeks Sunday scribbling was about "change". Change has many different definitions, and can stir up much controversy as we saw last week. Here are my thoughts....
Some "love" the idea of change, while others run from change like the wind. I'll admit that I have been guilty of both. Was it simply because I was scared of change, or because I didn't know how to adjust to change? I have recently realized that change can be a beautiful thing. Instead of running from change, I embrace it, and since I've been a much happier person.
Why run from the inevitable? No matter how hard we try to keep things the same, nothing ever stays the same. This use to frighten me in so many ways. That was until I picked up and moved to Seoul, South Korea in the summer of 2007.
After finishing a Master's degree in Political Science, and feeling rather lost..... I hopped on a plane in order to "discover" myself. As cliche as it sounds, sometimes a little self discovery is the best remedy for a confused boy of 22.
Not really sure where this journey was going to take me was probably the best part of it altogether. Since coming to Korea, I've had the chance to visit 7 other Asian countries. Through visiting these countries, I have learned a little bit more about myself and a lot about the world around me. Sometimes we only see so much. It's not until we get out there and experience it for our self, do we realize how lucky we are. At the end of the day, we still get to go to our own warm beds to sleep. Some aren't this fortunate.
It was through this experience that I have decided to live my life for others. To appreciate what I have, and to share the knowledge and experiences I have had in my 24 precious years with everyone else around me. More specifically, I am going to share my life with kids. I'm passionate about seeing kids learn and grow, and I will be a teacher forever.
Change is a great thing, and it's going to take more than one man to make change happen. We can all do our own parts to help "change" the world.

Ray! So glad you did a Sunday Scribblings post :) I enjoyed reading it a lot. I also must say, those are some pretty impressive places you've visited (and beautiful pictures of them). If you do go to Australia next year, be sure to put some pics up!
This could have been written by my grandson, also 24, who, after traveling all over southeast Asia, is now teaching children in Vietnam and loving it. You and he give me faith in the future of the planet.
