Me, Myself, and Cambodia:

I never really have "traveled" alone for longer than a weekend. On two occasions I went away for the weekend alone, once to Japan and once to Hong Kong. I guess neither of these really count though- as the trip to Japan was to get my new visa and during my trip to Hong Kong I met up with my friend Ivania.

But recently when I purchased my flight to Phnom Penn and my return flight out of Siem Reap, I realized one thing, I'm going alone. This will be my first international trip all by myself- something that I didn't think I would ever do before coming to Korea. I mean, I don't even like to eat lunch by myself, how am I going to travel for ten days alone? I am excited to have the freedom to do what I want whenever I want to do it, but part of me is worried that I am going to be lonely.

I know that I need to suck it up, and take the experience for what it's worth. I mean, I moved 7,000 miles away from home to live in Seoul. At first I knew no one at all. There's just something completely different about the two situations though.

I'm sure that I will meet people along the way, and maybe even find someone to travel the roads with once I arrive. But for now, it's just me, myself, and Cambodia.

you can do it... the trick... make it a mini-journalism or photo expose type thing... carry around a camera and a journal and make it a project. you won't be "eating alone"... you'll be working on your killer story and pics... be anthony bourdain lol...

Well, I quite often travelled alone. Maybe not very far away, only some European countries. I was never frightened even though everything could have happened... Well, yes, it's a bit strange having lunch by oneself and having no one to go to the cinema with but then you have more possibility to get to know some new people. Oh, how exciting!
