Twilight.

A few months ago, most people didn't even know what "Twilight" was. Some might have heard it in passing, but I bet most of us had a thousand other distractions that we didn't even give it a second thought.

Three months or so ago, I got an email from one of my best friends. It went something like, "Ray, I know that you do not like trashy horror books, but I really recommend Twilight. I've read all four in one weekend, and I think you'd fall in love".

I immediately replied back that she was right, that I did not have a love for trashy books. But I agreed to pick it up if I came past it. Of course, that very next weekend I wondered into one of the big book stores here in Seoul. I was not going to go out of my way to buy this book, but I knew that I needed new reading material anyways. 5 minutes later, I found myself asking for the book...... but was told that it was "sold out".

One week later, I got a package in the mail from my friend Sarah for my birthday. Conveniently, Twilight was part of my birthday package. I read the first book in a week. It was easy to fall in love with the characters, regardless whether or not the plot was realistic. Like I've mentioned in other posts, I find it easy to connect with fictional characters.

I picked up book 2 a few weeks ago, and I finally finished it. I will continue to read three and four. Since I work 11 hours a day, I read books at a much slower rate than others. Oh well! At least I read, and I'm still informed about the world around me.

Then again, maybe I should save one of the books for my 15 hour flight back to Chicago for Christmas.

Either way, I recommend grabbing the book and giving it a read, especially if you're planning to see the movie. And that reminds me, the movie doesn't open in Korea until 12/11. Boo!

If you're anxious to work on book 3 now, then perhaps book 4 can accompany you on the long flight. Hope you're enjoying them!
